Last week we asked: “What if the person watching your vote is your neighbor?”
This week we answer the question everyone is whispering but nobody wants to say out loud:
How much will it cost?
And what happens if we don’t pay it?
Because democracy is not free. But tyranny is far more expensive.
LET’S DO THE MATH NOBODY WANTS TO DO
To protect 2027, we need 1 trained, equipped, welfare-protected ALO Citizen Agent in every one of Nigeria’s 176,846 Polling Units.
That is:
774 LGAs. 8,812 Wards. 176,846 PUs. 1 Agent per PU.
So how much is one vote worth?
THE COST TO SAVE ONE VOTE: THE 774 BUDGET BREAKDOWN
We broke it down to the kobo. No padding. No politics. Just reality.
1. RECRUITMENT & TRAINING: ₦18,500 per Agent
– Community screening, ID verification, background checks
– 3-Day LGA Training + Monthly Virtual Refreshers
– Certification, Manuals, and Data for the ALO Election Command App
Because an untrained witness is a liability.
2. KITTING: ₦25,000 per Agent
– ALO ID Card, Reflective Vest, Power Bank, Incident Forms, Raincoat
So they are identifiable, safe, and can work from 7am to 7pm without their phone dying.
3. WELFARE & PROTECTION: ₦60,000 per Agent
– Hazard Stipend: ₦30,000 before + ₦20,000 after election
– Group Personal Accident Insurance: ₦5,000
– Legal Support & Hotline: ₦3,000
– Data & Airtime Jan – Feb 2027: ₦2,000
Because you cannot ask a citizen to guard democracy on an empty stomach.
4. COMMAND & TECH: ₦4,500 per Agent

TOTAL TO FULLY PROTECT 1 POLLING UNIT FOR 2027: ₦108,000
TOTAL TO PROTECT ALL 176,846 PUs: ₦19.1 BILLION
NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT THE REAL COST
₦19.1 Billion sounds big. Until you compare it.
1. The cost of one rigged election: Lost investments, protests, court cases, and 4 years of bad governance. That’s in trillions.
2. The cost of one stolen mandate: Your children’s future.
3. The cost of doing nothing: Another 2023.
₦108,000 to protect 500 – 800 votes in one PU.
That’s ₦135 to ₦216 to save ONE vote.

HERE’S HOW WE BUILD IT TOGETHER
This is not an ALO project. This is a Nigerian project.
